Imre van den Bosch is from the middle of the Netherlands from a city called Utrecht. He studied theatre making at the University of Arts Utrecht (HKU). He is a freelance theatre maker and educator who gives theatre trainings and workshops at schools and theatre groups. To create something out of nothing, starting with improvisation, shaping a world that invites the audience to take part, is one of the reasons he does what does.
His fascination for theatre started with improvisation and since the last 8 years he had specialised in physical, interactive and site specific theatre. As a director he collaborates with different disciplines to make interactive and immersive installations and performances. For Imre theatre is a method to get people out of their head and into their body with a consciousness of presence.
His goal is to get performances out of the black box, into the open space. The idea that theatre is just a story being told with the audience listening, sitting in the tribune, is a concept Imre doesn’t agree with. His vision on theatre is that it has much more potential, being able to connect people, get the audience out of their comfort zones, interacting in the moment and experiencing a different story rather than just observing one.
As an educator/facilitator, Kiori’s aim is to accentuate this same subtle world of connections in others. It’s Using a location as a source for creation is one of his fascinations he is eager to share. Since 2018 he is a director and performer at Vuurol, which is a site specific theatre festival in the woods of the Netherlands. He guides theatre students who are creating their first site specific theatre performance.
